We hope you can find everything you need. The goal of this website is to give you the opportunity to learn a little about the CCDW process before committing to the class. KY CCDW Training is focused on providing safe training so you can obtain your Kentucky concealed deadly weapons license. We are Kentucky State Certified.
THE PROCESS:
If you are reading this, then the first step is complete (which is to find an instructor). Next you should decide on a class date for yourself (listed below). Next will be the class which is 8 hours, but can sometimes run longer. Upon successful completion, we will forward your information to the Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) within five working days. Within 15 days of receiving information from us, the DOCJT will issue a Certificate of Training, which will be mailed to you. You will then submit the Certificate of Training and $60 to the Sheriff's office in the county in which you reside. Within five working days, the Sheriff's office will send your application to the Kentucky State Police (KSP). KSP will conduct a background check and issue or deny license to you within 90 days. You will then pick up your license at the Sheriff's office and may then carry your weapon concealed.
What you will need for the class:
1. A safe, operational handgun free of rust and which you can safely operate.
2. A minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition for that handgun. Factory loaded ammunition only!
3. A cleaning kit for that handgun.
4. Eye and ear protection.
5. $75 cash or money order for the class.
Requirements:
You must be at least 21 years of age and have been a resident of Kentucky for a minimum of 6 months.
